On June 5th “Interior/Posterior” opens at Young Blood Gallery & Boutique with six women artists from Savannah, Birmingham, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Portland, Or.
Artists Jennifer Davis, Megan Kimber, Chrystal Chan, Lesley Reppeteaux, Merrilee Challiss and Daisy Winfrey have come together to create a collaborative and coherent show with similar visions and ideas, yet have also managed to represent their unique styles through personal pieces. Each artist brings their work to life through the use of different materials and applications, all with a theme of the female form in mind.
“The purpose of this show was to bring together a show consisting solely of female artists whose work relates well to each other in terms of painted figurative subject matter and their sense of commentary on individual existence,” says Megan Kimber.
There is a piece for every visitor, with realistic approaches with lines and patterns, to the fantastical child’s eye view that give a story-like feeling.
“People will be able to go to this show and feel like they have just watched a bunch of little tasty movies or read some kick ass short stories.”
Through June 27.
