As preparation for Atlanta Celebrates Photography’s third-annual Photo Book Fair in October, Laurie Shock will teach a workshop on how to create your own photographic book. Visualizing your photographs in book form is a unique challenge, and Laurie will help guide you through the process from beginning to end. You’ll come away from the workshop with an actual path to creating your book, and once you’ve created yours, you’ll be ready to participate in ACP’s Photo Book Fair in the fall!
Today’s technology makes it easier than ever to produce a photo book, and that book can serve many different purposes. Now you can easily publish your photographs to use as a professional portfolio, to sell on the retail market, to tell a story and document a cause, to promote your business, or to give as a gift for someone special.
This workshop will briefly discuss traditional book publishing and compare that in detail to POD (print-on-demand) companies such as Blurb, Asukabook, and VioVio. What questions should you ask before you begin? How do POD companies differ? What steps should you take first? How should you edit and design your photo book? You’ll learn all of that here and leave with a solid road map for publishing your photo book.
