This weekend artist Charlie Brouwer will be at Rise Up Atlanta during the Inman Park Festival to meet audience members and answer questions about his work and this project.
To create Rise Up Atlanta, Brouwer borrowed ladders from across the Atlanta community. Ladders were loaned by individuals, businesses, and other organizations, and every ladder has a tag identifying its lender. Each ladder represents the hopes and dreams of its lender, and bound together, they create a work of art that is a metaphor for the aspirations of the community as a whole. Each ladder plays an essential role in the final sculpture, just has every person plays an essential role in the life of a community.
This project is supported in part by Concrete Ideas LLC and the City of Atlanta Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs
