Blue Mark Studios, located in west Midtown Atlanta, announces “Alizarin,” an art opening featuring a vibrant collection by Lisa Shinault and Katherine Mialkowski. “We are really pleased to be showing work by both of these very talented artists this fall in our Gallery. Both Lisa’s and Katherine’s work is always effervescent, interesting and a pleasure to view. We are excited for ‘Alizarin’ and invite art lovers and enthusiasts to join us at the opening reception in late September.” states Bryan Seay, the owner of The Gallery at Blue Mark Studios.
Living fields and forests, illuminated cocoons and many more ‘far-out’ freedoms and interpretations of nature. Called “Alizarin”, the show will run from September 29 through November 2011 and will feature over 40 new works by a very talented pair of female artists. When asked what inspired the name of this exhibit, the two responded, “The word “Alizarin’ made us think of blood, the essence of life. How much more powerful can you get than that?
‘Alizarin’, as a title, works well to represent the both of us… two painters who put much thought into the details of their paintings, to end up with powerful results.”
Lisa will be presenting mostly sewn oil on canvas featuring a bevy of animals, some of them wearing masks or disguises, inspired from her “Life & Death” painting in 1995. Katherine will be exhibiting botanical paintings and works on paper. She gets inspiration for her paintings from her explorations of the natural world.
Lisa Shinault resides in Decatur, Georgia. She received a B.F.A. degree in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 1989, as well as an award for Excellence in Painting for that year. In Atlanta, she has freelanced for Custom Tile Design and The Alliance Theater, along with others. Katherine was born in Atlanta, GA and lives in Lawrenceville, GA with her husband and daughter. She received her BFA from The Atlanta College of Art in 1992.
