“A Brush with Fame” at Pace Academy

Pace Academy, recognized by Atlanta Magazine as one of the city’s Best Schools for the Arts, has invited local students to participate in its second annual “A Brush with Fame” painting competition.

The exhibit, sponsored by BINDERS Art Supplies and Frames, will feature artwork by 50 students from 12 Atlanta-area schools. Participating schools include Atlanta Girls’ School, The Galloway School, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School, The Lovett School, Mount Pisgah Christian School, North Gwinnett High School, Pace Academy, Riverwood International Charter School, Wesleyan School, The Westminster Schools, Wheeler High School and Woodward Academy.

“A Brush with Fame” will be on display in the Pace Academy Fine Arts Center Jan. 25 through Feb. 5, 2012. A reception for the artists and their families will take place Jan. 29 from 5 to 6:30 p.m., also in the Fine Arts Center. A representative from the High Museum of Art will judge the competition, and five first-places prizes will be presented.

“‘A Brush with Fame’ has grown significantly since last year’s inaugural competition,” says competition organizer Donice Bloodworth, a member of the Pace Academy Visual Arts faculty. “We’re excited that so many students and schools have chosen to participate, and we’re grateful for BINDERS’ support of the exhibit and the arts at Pace.”

As part of its Gifting Program, BINDERS donates five percent of every dollar spent by school supporters to its partner schools. Since the program’s inception, the store has donated more than $20,000. “Our ability to give back will only grow as we garner more support from these organization’s members,” says Stuart Shapiro, Account Executive with BINDERS. “We’re fortunate to have partnered with Pace for this competition, and are proud to support the school’s arts initiatives.”
