Atlanta gallery owner asks art experts to identify unknown talent waiting to be discovered.
“I am overwhelmed by the response,” says gallery owner Barbara Archer. By tapping her personal network of movers and shakers in Atlanta’s art community to become talent scouts, Archer gave them the chance to shine a light on rising art stars that in turn will exhibit their work in an established favorite among Atlanta galleries. Archer calls the art experts “the talent” and the artists they recommend “the company.”
Many agreed with Atlanta painter Tommy Taylor that it was an honor to be asked. “I’ve benefited often from someone recommending my work to the right people,” Taylor explains. “It was very gratifying to do the same for a younger, unknown artist in this context.”
The result will be presented at Barbara Archer Gallery in a dynamic group exhibition titled “Talent Loves Company” from June 22 through August 4, 2012. The public is invited to meet the artists at the opening reception on Friday, June 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Over 50 new and undiscovered artists, not currently represented by local galleries, will be introduced. Everyone benefits, including the public, from the refined taste and discerning eye of Archer’s team of savvy art collectors, curators and well-known artists.
By early June, a complete list of talent scouts and the undiscovered talent they recommend will be available on the gallery’s website.
Through August 4.
