Atlanta-based artist Erika Hibbert’s recent series ‘Paper Bowls’ and ‘Burnt’ will be on exhibit at the Rialto Center for the Arts lobby in September. The show premiers September 21, 2012 and will remain on view through October 26, 2012. An artist’s reception will be held Thursday, October 4 from 5-8 p.m.
The exhibit is part of a longstanding collaboration between the Rialto Center for the Arts, Comer Art Advisory, and the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design at Georgia State University, which transforms the Rialto lobby and mezzanine into a visual art exhibition space. The artist has expressed pleasure at the prospect of exhibiting the work in this unique downtown Atlanta venue.
Hibbert, a native of South Africa, lived in Botswana for six years before coming to Atlanta in 2009. She received a degree in Fine Art from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1989, and has exhibited in Africa, Europe, and North America. Her artwork is represented in private collections internationally. Hibbert is on the art faculty at the Atlanta International School.
