Woodturner Joe Ruminski of Fairview NC will be the solo artist exhibiting in June at 2 Rules Fine Art in Marietta, GA. The artist will also be giving live woodturning demonstrations on Saturday, June 2 and Saturday, June 16 at 11am and 2pm. Each demonstration will last about a half hour.

Ruminski applies his woodturning knowledge and skills to create imaginative art, practical forms and unique gift items. With impeccable standards, he has commercially produced over 800 natural edge bowls, utilitarian bowls, vases, Christmas tree ornaments and art pieces. His work appears in several prestigious venues, including the Biltmore Estate and numerous galleries in Western North Carolina.

In conjunction with his solo exhibit at 2 Rules Fine Art, Ruminski will be providing two woodturning demonstrations at the gallery. Ruminski will show how the basics of turning can be used to make wooden art pieces. The demonstrations will be an opportunity for attendees to watch, learn and ask questions about the woodturning process.

Ruminski’s artist’s statement conveys his love of his art: “Some things are made just to be pleasing to the eyes. Others are made to cause one to dream, wonder and maybe even question. For me working in wood is a wonderful combination of all these. There is a natural beauty in wood that can be exposed in different ways to show that beauty to others.”

Through June 29.

“Facade” features new works by recent Kennesaw State University graduates Caroline Annandale and Johnathan Welsh. The works showcase stars in the powerhouse of emerging talent from outside the perimeter. Both artists use painting to present the lives and environments we inhabit expressing subjects along a common thread in search of reality.

Annandale’s desolate and yet felt cities and Welsh’s enigmatic figures speak to the uniqueness of surface. Virtuosos of beautiful painting, both artists exquisitely unite moments of desire, dream, and fear, with its rich history between space and body. Annandale’s cities and Welsh’s bodies bring a much anticipated renewed spirit to the fullness of painting’s power.
