“ECHOES: Adventures in Printmaking” is curated by Joe Elias Tsambiras and features the art of: Karen Cleveland, Mariana Depetris, Becky Furey, Chris Neuenschwander, Sam Parker, Plastic Aztecs, Ashlyn Pope, Paul Rodecker, Andrea Sanders, Stephanie Smith, Dorothy Stucki, Matthew Sugarman, and Joe Tsambiras.

Echoes are reflections of sound, arriving at the listener some time after the initial sound has been produced. In visual art, printmaking comes close to a representation of the echo: multiple prints emanate from a matrix. The prints and print-based installations in ECHOES work together to celebrate the form and technique of printmaking. This collection also fosters multidirectional communications between the works of art, the environment, and the viewers.

“Seasoned printmakers, as well as artists who are relatively new to the medium, created all new work for ECHOES. Rather than randomly selected artists whose work I appreciate, I tried to be thoughtful about how the works interact to creatively display a sincere emotional statement. Through curating a group printmaking show, I aim to help create a space that embodies the powerful creative energies inherent in printmaking.”

Through April 28.

Can you imagine using a steamroller as a printing press? No? Well, it’s happening on April 14, 2012 at Atlanta Printmakers Studio – the only non-profit organization of its kind in the southeast.

Watch as ten groups of artists, college, university and high school students ink up giant images carved into 4×8 ft. woodblocks and then run over them with a steamroller to produce amazing prints!

The themes of the prints celebrate books, reading and literature. Activities include hands-on printmaking, studio tours, poetry slam, story-time with characters, food, music and more. Free admission.

Get This! Gallery presents the solo exhibition, SYNTHESIZ by Atlanta based artist Ben “Bean” Worley. This is Bean’s second solo exhibition with GT! The exhibition features new video work as well as prints based on stills from the featured videos.

The exhibition will also include a series of evening performances throughout the duration of the show. These will include music performances, DJ/parties and performance art events in which Bean will be doing live video mixing and projections to accompany the invited performers.

SYNTHESIZ fuses the binary roles of his personal and professional life with the historical precedent of film and art. Worley contextualizes his formal artistic training within a pop cultural experience that combines video, music and performance, transforming the analog materials he gathers into a contemporary digital medium. The transformative elements of Worley’s videos translate into the nature of the exhibit as a whole. The gallery will continually shift between both a formal viewing space and a music and events venue with every component synthesizing to create a unified visual experience giving the participant a view into the multifaceted nature of Worley’s work and background.
