Kibbee Gallery presents “This Time” by artists Stephanie Dowda and John Paul Floyd, in collaboration with Atlanta Celebrates Photography

ThisTime at Kibbee GalleryThis Time features artists Stephanie Dowda and John Paul Floyd, working collaboratively to explore the meaning of memories through photography and installation. Our memories keep us connected to the past while providing a guide to the future. The artists delve into personal memories by creating images of home and comfort that are both real and fictitious. Stephanie and John Paul work to unravel the connections our present lives have with the past.  The artists use several traditional photography methods, including chromogenic prints, silver gelatin photographs and cyanotype to create a mixed media installation.  The artists have worked together for several years under the collective, Click Clique, hosting events, curating exhibitions and working on projects throughout the Atlanta area.

“The Last Days of Summer” New Work by Chris Carder at Beep Beep Gallery

Chris Carder’s new body of work is a collection of photographs from the summer of 2009. His images reflect the spirit of the season, a time that celebrates the exploration and recklessness of youth.  However, even amidst this wild freedom, his scenes appear calm and slow indicative of the mindset brought on by a hot and muggy southern afternoon.

This series is Carder’s first major foray into digital photography, a medium he has just recently embraced.   Chris feels that the perfect clarity in some parts of the image balances with the imperfect “digital noise” that exists in others.

Through Nov. 8.
