This society has been built upon the premises of a government “for the people and by the people”. So how is it that the majority of the people want a single payer system and somehow the majority has to concede to some other unspoken rule? This ability to filibuster the majority seems to be a perverse loophole in this democracy, where as the founding fathers fought for their “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” from tyranny there now seems to be a more formidable foe, one that has an equal interest in both parties dissolving the premise and creating a new branch with a new mandate “by the dollar”.
There are many factors that contribute to the current state of health care, from the expense of healthy food versus the constant bombardment of commercials to consume cheap huge hamburgers, to the financial success of treating symptoms rather than finding the cure, not to mention the big business of Insurance.
Why does it cost so much to be healthy? A significant price jump occurs just by labeling a product organic especially since the due to building zones it is illegal to grow farm animals or products. At what point does Capitalism subside for the “greater good of the Nation”? This Capitalist structure has promoted unhealthy marginalized communities who do not have the resources for healthy food that as a result diabetes, hypertension etc. occurs more frequently. This collection of artists question the many various issues wrapped up in the health care debate.
